CHARITY: Pitman teen’s charity makes her one of ‘Harvey’s Heroes’

The hot-pink storefront in downtown Pitman is the walk-in closet to beat all others.

Women’s blouses hang on racks, and children’s clothing is folded in plastic tubs on the floor. Donations to the charity boutique — Angels of God Clothing Closet — keep coming in.

Katelyn Darrow, a Pitman High School senior, started the nonprofit in 2009, when she was 12. Her mother, Elissa, thought it might be a short-lived youth project, but it has lasted more than five years.

“She keeps going,” Elissa said.

Now 18, the young philanthropist will appear Thursday on NBC’s “Steve Harvey Show” to tell her story and become one of “Harvey’s Heroes.”
