BLOGPOST: Little Miss Perfect Film Release
Once upon a time in the summer of 2013, I worked on a film in New York called Little Miss Perfect. Three years later, it’s finished, been picked up for distribution, and is now streaming on iTunes! I’m so proud to have had a small part in the process, for two specific reasons.
The first being the content, as the film is about eating disorders and body image in teen girls. This is such a prevalent issue today, with girls (and boys!) aiming for a nonexistent perfection. More than half of teenage girls use unhealthy weight control methods, whether that’s skipping meals, fasting, vomiting, etc.
The second reason is because it was directed by Marlee Roberts who is such a bright light.🌟 Women are underrepresented in film, especially when it comes to production; Marlee Roberts really inspired me because she not only directed Little Miss Perfect, but she also wrote the script. 📝 I love all aspects of multimedia and storytelling, whether the medium is journalism, photography, film, etc. We can use these art forms to share a story and make your voice heard. 🗣
Little Miss Perfect was released on iTunes TODAY, so be sure to check it out here. This photo collage is from last month when I went to Awareness Festival in Los Angeles and saw an early screening. The film turned out really beautiful, and I hope other young girls who see it will be inspired to speak up and speak out about eating disorders.
