CHARITY: Founder of N.J. clothing donation outlet discovers luggage for college stolen
PITMAN — Katelyn Darrow has seen what true need looks like.
The 18-year-old founder of Angels of God Clothing Closet on South Broadway donates much of her time distributing donated items to people poverty-stricken and food insecure.
So when she woke up Wednesday morning and discovered that all her luggage for college — packed with almost everything she owned — had been stolen from her mom’s SUV, she reminded herself it was “just things” and tried to keep perspective.
She said she was pretty devastated initially and that obviously she’d much rather that her stuff hadn’t been stolen. She noted that basically her “entire existence was in those three suitcases.” But she wasn’t going to dwell — what’s done was done. And she was moving forward.
After all, Katelyn was off to California with a flight at 8 p.m. Wednesday night.
